Jangojim
0 commentsI remember that day well I first discovered the Explorations of Jangojim. It all happen on February 2010, yeah I'm a late bloomer I know, back to the story then;
The gas plant shut down my supply on that glorious day, no heating and no warm water on February in Berlin, so cold man I can tell. Serveral more things gone wrong past that day and I felt like going to bed and die. Before dying, I though a bit of entertainment couldn't make it worse. I put on the internet, logged into my DA account and there it was, a tiny thumbnail displayed in a friends collection of his favourite art. Immediately, all my attention were fixed on the painting in front of my nose, I laugh out loud and for somehow I had a great feeling of relief. You know that kind of relief when you finally met someone that shares your interesst, likes
the same things and had the same kind of wacky humor, it was all there visualised in one picture. Browsing his gallery was a full hour of fun and excitment and after that I felt so damn inspired, I started expertimenting around myself immediately. All the hack of the day was gone, I had an ice cold shower, turned the music on the highest level and started good old chicken dance.
I asked him to choose 3 of his paintings for this article and he was so kind to send me a kilometer explanation for every piece :D, here is what he said: (klick on the picture for full view)
CODASYNC MACHINES
There's two things I like to call my specialities: crazy machines and cities. I'm endlessly fascinated by them, since I was a kid. I wanna keep on exploring what I can do with them, like animations or real life machines."
STAIRWAY TO MONSTER
"I have many drawings that are based on some english word play. I like the English language and playing with languages in general. I think I might have better ones, but I really like how the idea ended up as this piece of which I really like the colours. And everyone loves monsters of course. Sometimes I keep picking colours for 5 hours to get it right. Most of the time it happens in the last 5 minutes that I change everything and use those colours. I also have some more ideas for similar illustrations and I'd love to make this into a series. super sneak peek: next one coming up is 'the terminescalator'. rrhooaa !"GOOD MORNING
"I'm not fully satisfied with the idea, it could be stronger ( although I like the bird depicting his penis and the little tree ), but especially visually I think it's a very strong one. I'm a big fan of very clean geometric lines and strong flashy colours. It's not the only thing I want to do, but I just like it a lot. I also like lumberjacks, wood and birdhouses, so you can see how this combo was born. It was made for a booklet my girlfriend and I made for musician Jonsi from 'Sigur Ros'. We managed to give it to him on his new show ( the show was awesome by the way ). We sometimes make booklets for artists we like a lot, like Andrew Bird."
He truly got the answer of all our problems, it's all in his art brothers & sisters! Hallelujah! See for yourself he's got a great style so give him some love!
