Man, this is so great !!
both incredibly cool images that would capture my interest immediately if they were in a store between other covers. which is very good.
The first one reminds me of matchbox packaging in the early 20th century. soemthing I really love ( I have a book about it, you should look it up ). I'm not sure about the typography. at the one hand it looks really punk this way, cut and paste technique and that is great too, but on the other hand you could do it more handwritten, so it is more a whole or use a more vintage font. But that is totally personal. here's some matchbook examples

and also reminds me a bit of the mood in two cd covers from Andrew Bird's early work ( an artist I greatly admire )

the second image here is also supercool. I love the otherworld feel, but at the same time look as if it were made 30 years ago. is it a close up of a bigger image ? because that's a cool technique. reminds me a bit of this cool cover for Belgian rock group dEUS, which was also a close up from an amazing comic:

but also reminds me of a great wicked 70s movie: the fantastic planet. crazy movie, but very inspirational
keep the vibe coming man, you surprise me every time, which is awesome !

haha, man the second you wrote about the font I was scanning my handwritten edit-form, I was too lazy yesterday and used just a placeholder. thanks for the link on bad banana, great inspiration source!
& Andrew Bird is fucking great, good music taste man! The first image is the the opener which varies a litle bit with every cover and yeah the second is a close up, halfway through the painting progress I didn't liked it any longer. here is the OG :D :

I'm sitting on the promo flyer right now, which will explain the concept a bit better, I hope :] I will search for that movie you mention, and man that was a fantastic and very helpful comment, thanks a billion!

haha, alright. looking forward to the handwritten font then. I know all about laziness :p
Great to hear you like Andrew Bird too. He's a big source of inspiration to me and one of my fav artists of all time. I saw him twice in concert, even met my girlfriend through mutual love for his music and we even met him in person and gave him a little book we made for him. that was the coolest thing ever, he's so incredibly nice and even dedicated a song to us that night. totally wow for us of course
and yeah, the second cover is interesting, because I too prefer the close up over the original. it's a great way to deal with your things :). Because you don't show everything in the close up it becomes interesting. at first you don't really know what you are seeing and later your realize it's part of a person/monster. But you still don't know what the rest looks like, which is great.
ha, flyer and stuff too, cool ! you could make a whole festival of craziness :) with all imaginary bands and stuff. I'm always thinking big :D
here's the whole movie on youtube:
the fantastic planet. in french ( original) it's called, planète sauvage, which actually means 'wild' in stead of 'fantastic' :). if you see the movie, you'll see that 'wild' fits the movie better. it's pretty dark. also good movie to have running in the background while you are working. seriousl trippy though

dang! ohh man that movie is epic!!! I watch it the second time right now and I can't believe that I never heard of it. yeah, ey festival of craziness! You're right I cant left imaginary bands out of it, totally forgot about that and they are much more fun to draw as the lame typography for the flyer. damn, now I had to start all over.
that Andrew Bird story is great, it truly sounds amazing :), cheers to Belgium

the startover was the best thing ever!!! I've been searching for creative packaging design and gimmick stuff and now I'm so full of ideas and a little bit ashamed on my first poor attempt, haha. man thanks! you are a true inspiration, I should dedicate the work to you. :]
The book is freakin awesome!
